week 2- the dig- the dig is used to give your team more options. it is mainly use from the opponents serve to put height on the ball and allow another team member to set the ball and then try to produce a smash shot. For this exercise we had one person throwing the ball to us and us simply doing a dig shot back to their hands.
week 3-the set- the set is used to to do what it says. it is a chance for you to set up your opponent for a smash shot. It is usually the team's second contact with the ball. for this we did a drill shown in the video link below.

Week 4 - the smash - this is an attack shot used to try to make it hard for the opponent and to gain a point. it is usually tried to be hit from your teamates set and you are aiming to hit the floor on the oppositions side of the court. in this week we did a drill in whichone person threw the ball, the other set and then the same other person produced a smash shot. it is shown in the video link below.
week 5- the serve - the serve is used to start every round. If you can master the art of the serve and keep your opponents off balance, they won’t be able to make a perfect pass. If they can’t make a perfect pass, they will likely not get a perfect set whic means hopefully you can gain a point. having a serve isnt always and advantage unless you make it one. for our exercise drill when doing the serve it was extremely simple. we stood the regulation distance away from the net and served to the other side using over hand and under arm technices to demonstrate our skill level. below is a picture of our group showing a great overhand serve.
week 6- blocking is a vital part of volleyball as well as being defensive and blocking your opponent from getting their smash shot away it can sometimes bounce back over and get you a point. for this drill we had two blockers on one side of the net and 2 players on the other side. one threw then the other set and then the other one smashed and we had to block the shot. their is a picture of us below reaching hight to block a shot.

week 7. footwork and positioning.- for our footwork and positioning we had a regular match but had one person in the middle closest to the net facing us. The reason for this is as an over had ball or serve is hit on to our side of the court the player can see our movement and if the ball is digged to them they can produce a more accurate set shot for their team to run on to and smash. as for foot positioning you need to make the right decicion for what type of shot you are playing, for example if a ball was played low in to you you would need to move and get low to produce a high dig shot.
week 8-The officials-here are some of of the rules and regulations
- An official volleyball court is 18m x 9m
- The server stands near the line at the back of the court and can hit it either over- or under-arm.
- The other team is only allowed to use three touches on their side of the court before they have to hit it back to get a point.
- The player cant hit the ball twice in a row but could on the first and third contact.
- You cannot catch the ball and must be hit in the air, over the net or to a team mate.
- whichever side wins the round/point they get to serve, also if you get a point directly from a serve you continue and dont swap until you lose a point.
- Every time your team wins the serve from the other team they swap round so every one gets a go.
Week 9 and week 10- the volleyball tactics- *Tall players should stay in the front.
*They will stay close to the net, receive the ball well and smash it to the opponent's side.
*It is easier for taller people to smash the ball better to the ground.
*Building up a strong defense and offense is important.
*You need both attackers and blockers placed well.
*Setters are a big part of tactics as they provide defence and can give smashers oppurtunities to gain points.
*If you can position them well it can be a good advantage.
*if you choose the right shot at the correct moment you can create chances to win points, you can do this by making it hard for your opponents to return it by putting the ball in an are where there players are not or simply hit it hard and catch them off guard. you will need to judge what shot you will play before you hit it
